Ab Ripper X: Getting Rock Hard Abs
Man o man, was this ever a tough workout at first. Definitely one of the better love handle workouts. I like how it’s suppose to be about 15 minutes but when I first started doing this exercise I had to pause it a lot. Not to mention some of the moves were just straight out confusing. I’ve checked out several other ab routines before this one but some of the moves were still new to me.
Honestly, I hated the days that I had to do Ab Ripper X because I knew my workout for the day was going to be longer than normal. Before even starting Ab Ripper X I had to take a half hour break to recover from whatever workout I did beforehand.
For example, one time I laid on the ground and basically took a nap for about half an hour because I was feeling so wasted from the workout before. But once I started Ab Ripper X I was back into it and ready to take on more. P90X was definitely not simple workouts for love handles but instead workouts made with a purpose to get you in the best shape of your life.
After a few weeks I got to the point that I only played Ab Ripper X in order to know what the next move was, then I paused it and took care of business. At the beginning I paused to take breaks but then I got to the point that I just knocked out every ab workout like it was nothing.
Sadly, I still don’t have an awesome six pack yet. So I did some research online and at the Beachbody Community Forums to find some answers.
I learned the following about getting firmed toned abs:
- While working on my lower belly fat I should concentrate on engaging the abs more. Basically more on contracting the ab muscles whenever possible. Something I haven’t been focusing on.
_ - A lean mid section has a lot to do with diet as much as it has to do with exercise. For the most part I stick to the p90x nutritional guide about 85 to 90% of the time. I’m actually very good for the amount of time that I have been doing this. Although something I finally started doing a few weeks ago is sticking to the calorie count. At first I was trying to keep it lower just to continue losing weight but nothing was happening. So I increased my calorie intake by 500 calories and have still seen no change in my weight but at least I’m not as hungry as I used to be.
_ - Finally, to really see those abs you need to be in the single digits of percentage fat. Something I really need to learn how to measure. From the looks of me though… I’m not really close. However, I didn’t gain all this weight in a few months so I really shouldn’t be expecting a sculpted six pack so fast.
That’s just what I found. It’s important to me because after getting to my weight goal of 155 lbs. I needed something else to aim for so I decided to become lean enough to get firm toned abs. Again that’s my goal and your goal may be different. Luckily, Beachbody offers several workouts to get us to what our goal is.
Til Next time… Discover your goal and your reasons behind it, because knowing this will help you get to how to achieve your goal.
P.S. If you really haven’t done any consistent exercising for a while then I would recommend RevAbs if you’re looking for a six pack. RevAbs is a great beginners program meant to focus on the core muscles. Since I’ve completed Insanity and P90X I would be down grading if I tried RevAbs and therefore wouldn’t see as great results
However, it would be great for anyone looking to get into a workout routine.
