Feeling Better with Yoga X: Following the Exercise Plan
Yoga X was the hardest home exercise I’ve ever completed. Not because it was difficult but because it’s not as active as I usually like my workouts to be. It was mentally challenging.
Remember, before starting P90X, I did Insanity with Shaun T (one of the best home cardio workouts to lose tummy fat fast) so I was used to jumping around and being super charged. Yoga X, however, had nothing to do with kicking butt and taking names.
Instead it was very much the opposite of a workout and was something to calm oneself with (peace of mind).
Here’s my original post from Facebook when I first completed P90X’s – Yoga X:
Ok.. I think I’m pretty good at any exercise I do. Hard, Fast, Whatever…
But this Yoga X is mind numbingly boring. It’s not hard. It’s just like being brain dead for an hour and a half. Yoga just seems like for people with nothing on their mind…
At first that’s what I truly believed about Yoga X. I remember taking several breaks the first time because I just got so bored.
The next time I did Yoga X, however, I used some of my own music to distract me. That helped a little but what really made the difference was covering up the time on the video and any other clocks in the room so that I didn’t focus on when I would be done. Instead I placed my focus on the moves, breathing, and the music.
These few changes made a huge difference for me. Instead I could spend the time focusing on the actual moves instead of trying to figure how much more time I had left.
I would also look to see what exercise I would be doing that day. This way I could prepare my mind for whatever it is that I had to get done that day.
Here are my top two tips for getting through P90X’s: Yoga X:
1. Cover up anything that lets you know what time it is. This way you don’t disappoint yourself when you realize you’re only 5 minutes into the hour and a half workout.
2. Get your mind set up for what you have to do that day. Just know that it’s coming and see yourself completing it. If you want a body transformation then you need to follow the system.
After a few weeks of Yoga X, I was able to get through it without any breaks and actually enjoy it more than the first time. Plus, it really does calm the body and helps with flexibility.
